Happy Sunday y’all! Is Sunday the end of the week or beginning of the week? I could probably go either way – just depends on the week I guess! Anyways, today I have two modern coastal dining room designs that I hope provide some design inspiration this weekend!
In these dining room designs, I wanted to give my client two different color palettes and two different furniture arrangements to see what they liked best! One features a round table and one features a rectangular table. Everyone has their own preference on table shape and I always want my designs to work for that particular client’s needs! My goal is always to create practical and livable designs!
All of my design packages feature unlimited revisions so once we narrowed down some of the specifics, I refined these designs to be exactly what they wanted!

Option 1: Round Table
Mood Board //
You guys know I love to start with a color palette! I always like to take into consideration other colors that are already in a house to make sure everything flows and is cohesive. In this house, there were already two gray shades by Behr – Gentle Rain and Subtle Touch. For this mood board, I wanted to add a white tone for a great neutral base and some blue/grays for accents. I chose Chantilly Lace, Swiss Coffee, Boothbay Gray, and Duxbury Gray (all Benjamin Moore). Some of these colors are featured in one of my favorite houses from Mollie at Design Loves Detail!

For this design, I choose a wallpaper from West Elm to do above wainscoting (which wa already in place). I love wall treatments in a dining room – it really helps define the space! I have wainscoting in my own dining room and then a darker paint color above (see it here).
To ensure a modern coastal feel, I went with bamboo shades on the windows, a woven pendant, and jute rug. The natural elements really give a coastal – but not over the top – feel. I added black accents to keep it modern feeling!
Option 2: Rectangular Table
Mood Board //
For this design, I included the same gray and white shades from the prior design. I went a little more traditional blue and coastal here and suggested Hale Navy and Water’s Edge (both Benjamin Moore as well). To see some of these colors, check out another one of my favorite houses by Sarah at Life on Virginia Street!

This is a bold but beautiful wallpaper from Serena and Lily! If there is anywhere to do a bold print, I think it’s somewhere you aren’t doing the whole room (ie. only the top half of the walls) or a smaller room (ie. a powder room) or as an accent/feature wall. I didn’t want to take away from this print, so I didn’t put any artwork on the wall, but added sconces on either side. I also did gold accents because blue and brass is my love language, lol.
The reclaimed wood table and white windsor chairs keep this room from becoming too formal!
So, what is your vote? Round or rectangular table? Let me know in the comments below!
