Happy Monday! It’s been a while since I’ve posted here! You’ve been keeping me busy with so many designs + I love it! I can’t wait to share more of what I’ve been working on. Today, I’m sharing some recent master bedroom designs I put together.
For this design, we weren’t set on a specific color palette so I put together a few different options – one featuring the wall paint that is already in the space, one featuring a palette based on other furniture in the house, and a few other ideas.
This master bedroom has a fairly substantial “cut out” section that is really made for a small sitting area! My client wasn’t 100% sure what she wanted to do with this space, other than making sure she had ample storage in the room, so I put together a few ideas!

Option 1: Current Color Palette
For the first option, I put together a design with the current wall paint color: SW Rainwashed. While this option might be the least “work”, it also would probably be the least cohesive with the rest of the furniture in the house. We wanted a coastal feel and this or Option 3 are probably the most truly “coastal” designs. I love getting a visual of other spaces in the house, even if I’m not designing them, to look at flow and cohesion! For the sitting area in this space, I chose two barrel swivel chairs with a round wood accent table in between.
Option 2: Mid-Century Modern Meets Coastal
I created option 2 based on some of the other furniture in the house. This master bedroom design style mixes coastal elements (woven baskets, jute pouf, palm and beach art) and mid-century modern furniture and rug. I wanted to show some different lighting options in my designs, so I selected modern sconces above the bed here. For the sitting area, I selected an oversized chair that looks perfect for relaxing!
Option 3: Blue Accent Wall
In Option 3, I added a faux shiplap accent wall with a peel and stick navy wallpaper. There is navy subway tile in the bathroom, so this accent wall ties in perfectly! For the lighting, I included hanging woven pendants. Both the sconces and pendants allow for more space on the nightstand, which in real life, tend to get cluttered! I also wanted to create another option for the “sitting area” and added a desk which could be used for working or as a vanity for makeup, etc. I love the idea of a relaxing sitting area in a bedroom, but in practically, they often rarely get used! This is another idea for the use of the space that might fit some lifestyles better!
Option 4: Canopy Bed
Lastly, I wanted to add an option with a canopy bed because I initially discussed that possibility with my client! The biggest thing with a canopy bed is evaluating the ceiling light and also lighting/ceiling fan options since the bed can get in the way. This design is pretty modern and I wanted to bring in some coastal elements with the woven light fixture and beach print. I love the wood tone of these dressers and modern feel of the hardware. I actually used them in another design recently which you can see here! For the seating area, I chose a chaise lounge. The navy fabric ties into the bathroom tile. I looked into several chaises, but they actually took up alot more room than I was expecting!
These design boards are a combination of my 2D full room mood board and 3D full room design boards. Typically in my 3D packages, I will do a separate 3D view of each wall in the room. In these designs, I only did a 3D look at the main feature wall, where the bed will go. I then added the furniture/decor pieces that would be on the other walls (dresser, chest, mirror, etc.). This is more what you would see in my 2D packages! Keep in mind for all of my design services, I can create a custom package to accommodate your budget and provide the exact type of help you are looking for!
I offer 4 e-design design packages ranging in price from $50 to $275 – with discounts for multiple rooms! All packages include full accessibility and communication with me as well as unlimited revisions!
