Hi friends! I’m back today with a coordinating bedroom and bathroom design. I love designing multiple rooms in a home because I think one of the biggest home design struggles is cohesion! Your decor looks really purposeful when one room flows to the next seamlessly – but that’s not an easy feat to achieve!
Today’s design is what I’m calling “coastal meets mid-century modern” style. The color palette for this design was inspired by items my clients already had: their interior doors are painted Benjamin Moore Iron Mountain, their office (next door to the bedroom) is Sherwin Williams Cityscape, they have navy accent tile in their bathroom shower, and they have a pair of deep hunter green chairs that I wanted to incorporate.

Master Bedroom
This bedroom design is a variation of one I did in this post! For the bedroom, I chose Sherwin Williams Pure White as the paint. I wanted something light and bright – a staple of modern coastal design – but not too stark. Like I mentioned above, I wanted to incorporate a pair of mid-century hunter green velvet chairs, similar to these. With these chairs, I really wanted to mix a coastal casual feel with mid-century furniture. I picked a warm wood-toned dresser and chest to pair with a navy upholstered bed and geometric patterned rug. The modern coastal really comes into play with the woven elements and artwork. My clients already had an amazing woven floor-length mirror, and I added wall baskets and a woven plant basket for a faux fiddle. The set of 3 ocean prints above the bed are a feature piece! I also love to incorporate personal photos in the master bedroom, so I added a gallery wall to the left wall (check out my post on how to display photos in your home here!).
Master Bathroom – Vanity and Tub
For the master bathroom, I always like to run the same paint color that is in the bedroom into the bathroom. I am a huge believe that the #1 way to achieve cohesion is through paint! Check out my tips for picking paint colors here!
Starting in the vanity area, I used brushed nickel fixtures to match the faucets and hardware that is currently there. I added mid-century-esque mirrors with a wood frame to bring warmth to the space and tie into the dresser and chest in the bedroom. Matching soap and lotion bottles are one of my favorite ways to really up the overall decor feel in a bathroom! Check out the ones I have here and here.
For the tub area, I always like to incorporate greenery where I can in the bathroom! I love using stools in front of a freestanding tub. Here’s a look at how I decorated my tub area! Warm wood tones and woven features in baskets tie into the bedroom. Lastly, I picked a modern geometric runner that ties in the navy tones from the shower tile and navy in the upholstered bed.
Master Bathroom – Water Closet
For the water closet, I picked a faux shiplap peel and stick wallpaper. I am a huge fan of peel and stick wallpaper! It really is a game changer for spaces – especially small rooms where you can be a little more creative and outgoing with your design. Check out my tips for applying peel and stick wallpaper here. In a water closet, I love that it gives a lot of detail to the room but doesn’t require much decor! I recently put a faux grasscloth peel and stick wallpaper into my water closet and it transformed the room! For decor, I wanted to add a little something above the toilet, so I selected a simple floating shelf and Target artwork. Simple floating shelves are great for bathrooms – you just don’t want to over do it! Check out my home office bathroom here for how I utilized a shelf over my toilet!
