Happy Friday friends! Today I’m back with another round of #furnishingfriday! Below are 7 room designs for a full townhouse I recently helped design. These design boards have a simple, cohesive color palette – great for flow across the house – and a modern style. Keep on scrolling to see how I created this white, gray, and blue modern home design!

Color Palette
My client wanted to updated the paint to gray or black trim and white walls to create a bit of drama. Perfect for the modern home style! We went with SW Pure White walls and SW Iron Ore trim. She also wanted blue kitchen cabinets so we went with SW Naval. I used SW Light French Gray as an accent color to round out the color palette.
As far as paint sheens go, my typical recommendations are as follows:
- Ceiling – Flat
- Walls – Matte
- Trim – Satin
- Cabinetry – Satin

Living Room
In the living room, I really wanted to incorporate all the colors from the color palette, starting with this striped rug. I picked a gray sectional and layered in fun blue, white, and gray pillows. Black art and accents tie in the trim/door color. A picked a very modern style TV stand (I actually have the wood version of this in my bonus room!) but also wanted to add some wood tones in the mirror and picture frame to balance everything out!
Kitchen
In the kitchen, I suggested SW Naval for the lower cabinets and SW Pure White for the upper cabinets. I added a fun gray herringbone backsplash, similar to the backsplash I have in my own kitchen, which you can see here. The kitchen currently doesn’t have an island or anything in the center (just cabinets on two outside walls), so I added an island cart with modern lighting above. Lastly, I finished it off with some simple decor and a blue patterned runner. You can check out some other kitchen runners options I recently put together here!
Powder Room
In the powder room, I used gray feather wallpaper from Serena & Lily to provide contrast and interest from the while walls in the rest of the house. I love to use wallpaper in powder rooms – it really makes a statement and a small room is a great place to do just that! I mixed black and chrome fixtures to balance light and dark. With the wallpaper, there is no need to do much decor so I just added two modern art prints above the toilet.
Master Bedroom
The wall behind a bed is the perfect place for an accent wall, so I did vertical shiplap here in SW Naval to tie the color in from the kitchen. I added Boll & Branch bedding, which is my absolute favorite. Check out my summer bedding featuring their sheets and waffle blanket here. The nightstands are small so I opted to add sconces on the wall to not take up space with table lamps. I wanted to add a bit of fun and texture with the curtains and accent chair!
Master Bathroom
I incorporated gray into the bathroom through a patterned floor tile and vanity. I used brushed nickel fixtures and hardware. Lastly, I was able to tie the navy in through the runner rug, artwork, and my favorite dip dyed stool! I have the white version, which you can see here.
Boy’s Bedroom
This is the one room where I added some additional color, with an olive green accent wall behind the bed. I thought this neon sign above the bed was so fun for a teenager! I love the black and white accents and hanging chair. Not the same brand, but our hanging chair is one of my favorite places in the whole house to sit!
Guest Bathroom
In the guest bathroom, I wanted to create a modern and masculine feel since it will be used dually by guests and a teen boy. The biggest features here are the patterned tile floor and wood slat accent wall, which is such a cool feature! I tied in the navy with the vanity and shower curtain.
