Happy Sunday! Today I’m sharing 4 small bathroom design boards I recently put together. These were for a repeat client (yay!) who are gutting their small, full bathroom. You can check out a little mood board I put together previously for their entryway/sitting room here. My goal is always to create a cohesive feel throughout a home – which is not an easy task!
I put all of these small bathroom designs together with a “California casual” style in mind but they all have a little bit of a varying coastal design style. Let me know which is your favorite in a comment at the end!

Traditional Coastal Small Bathroom
This has a few hallmarks of coastal style: shiplap and blue tones. I chose a lighter blue vanity, paired with gold hardware, horizontal shiplap on the walls, white and gray tiles, woven accents, and a beautiful coastal print above the toilet.
Because the bathroom is so small (appox. 5′ wide x 8′ deep) I chose to run the shower tile all the way along the vanity/toilet wall, from floor to ceiling. I think this continuation will help the room look longer!
Navy Accent Color
Navy is a very traditional coastal color – in fact, I usually think of it as a neutral especially in coastal design! Again, because this bathroom is very small, I wanted to add some interest and did so with a patterned floor tile. There isn’t a ton of flooring seen here so this patterned tile isn’t overwhelming at all!
For the shower tile, I chose Bedrosian’s Cloe tile, which is one of my all time favorite tiles! (PS. Cloe tiles are currently 20% off with code ALOE20!). You will see I also used the Cloe tile in a different color in design 4 below.
Coastal Farmhouse Small Bathroom
Small spaces are a great place to add pattern. I often add wallpaper in my powder room designs because it adds so much visual interest but isn’t overwhelming! In this design, I did a board and batten detail on the bottom 2/3 or so of the walls and then wallpaper above. I repeated the wave style pattern in the wallpaper on this super fun ruffled frame mirror (also currently on sale!)
Modern Coastal with a Pop of Blue
This design probably has a larger pop of color than the others. I used the vanity as the piece for color in the other designs but here I selected a blue shower tile instead! I also used black accents and hardware to create a modern and sleek coastal look here.
You have probably seen that shiplap is “out” of style but I don’t personally agree with that. When used correctly, it’s definitely in style! For coastal design, it will almost always be in style. Running the panels vertically is a little bit more of a modern way to do shiplap and I love the look!
I offer 4 e-design and 3 in-person design packages ranging in price from $75 to $375! All packages include full accessibility and communication with me as well as unlimited revisions!
