If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you saw my post today with two Halloween bar cart decor options! My bar cart is one of my favorite places to switch up decor, especially seasonally and for the holidays! It’s an easy place to have a little fun and some quick switches make the whole space feel like new!
Today, I thought I’d share my process for switching up the decor here to make it feel fresh and fun throughout the whole year!

Easy Bar Cart Decor Switches
I wrote a whole blog post on bar cart styling, which you can find here. That post has a lot of this information as well and my basics for styling my bar cart.
There are some items I don’t really change when I switch up my styling. Obviously, since this is a FUNCTIONAL bar cart (my husband might disagree on that point), I have a section with all of our hard liquor. I also have cocktail-making accessories and a decanter. Lastly, I use some fun cocktail recipe books to “ground” some decor or give it height where needed. I rarely switch the books (although I did last Valentine’s Day because I wanted something lighter feeling, and fun, and pink!).
- Greenery – I love to add greenery wherever I can. This really helps create warmth in a space and adds texture (especially against the metal of the bar cart!). Switching out your stems for seasonal colors is a great, easy way to transition decor between seasons. I will often switch out my vases too for what fits the stems best and change it up!
- Cocktail Picks – These are just so fun and once I started incorporating cocktail picks into my decor, I couldn’t stop! Plus, they really put your cocktails over the edge for parties!
- Straws – Ditto on the cocktail pick rationale here!
- Glassware – I also like to switch up my wine glasses (or you could use other glasses – champagne, margarita, martini, etc.). I like to use a gold rimmed glass with some of my warmer tones and then plain glasses with my base decor. My cart does have a wine glass holder but honestly, I like to put them on a shelf because they take up more space that way and can be seen better!
- Vase Filler – Another great way to incorporate seasonal decor is to fill a glass jar with different accents – fruit, pinecones, pumpkins, etc. This also can bring a lot of color to the space!
- Artwork – I like to incorporate some sort of art/sign on my bar cart. This helps to add height to one of my shelves which is important in design. You want to vary the height of your decor so that the eye travels from one piece to the next and between shelves at different levels.
- Garland – Lastly, I often add a simple garland to the front of my bar cart for a fun touch. I have mini command hooks on either side of the top of the cart that I just keep there all the time! You really can barely see them even when there is no garland.
