Two blog posts this week?! Who am I? Today, I’m sharing a few coastal farmhouse designs I recently put together! For this project, I put together three design options for an eat-in kitchen, that are similar but give slightly different layout options. Then, I utilized existing furniture for the living room design and ensured flow with the kitchen! I love being able to work on more than one room in a home so that I can put it all together cohesively!

Coastal Farmhouse Color Palette
As y’all know, I always start with my color palette! I like to use one color palette (and maybe one or two other room-specific accent colors) throughout the whole home. This really helps with cohesion and makes the decor feel purposeful. It is really hard to achieve a seamless look across a house, but repeating colors, textures, and metals is a great way to create flow.
For this project, I wanted a pretty neutral palette with blue accents. I started with colors that were already on the walls as they were a great neutral base and added in some blues and deeper accent colors. Here is what I used (all Sherwin Williams colors):
- Bright White
- Snowfall
- Modern Gray
- Lazy Gray
- Dustblu
- Iron Ore
Eat In Kitchen / Breakfast Nook
I have been pinning a lot of breakfast nook inspiration lately because I’m hoping to eventually redecorate my own breakfast nook. See my current decor here and my breakfast nook Pinterest board here.
I put together three options for this area. The back wall already had shiplap, which I love for a coastal farmhouse! There is a lot of talk about if shiplap is on it’s way out or not in style anymore, but I say you do you and it really works perfectly for certain styles! These three options incorporate a window bench but in different spots/layout configurations. I love the idea of a bench for a smaller eating area!
My client already had a small round white table (similar here) and Studio McGee cube so I tried to incorporate those! I have the same cube in a different pattern in my master bathroom – they are very versatile!
Which one would you pick!?
Living Room
One of the best parts of my design service (in my humble opinion) is that I can incorporate your current furniture or decor into the design! This is a really popular request I receive because most people aren’t looking to redo their entire room/house but rather finish it off or make a few updates. I received a lot of great feedback on a similar design I recently posted, which you can see here.
For this client, she already had the couch, rug, curtains, and desk. The biggest ask was lightening the feel of the dark couch with pillows and what to put on the large wall above the couch. I used a combination of white/ivory/gray/blue pillows which are versatile throughout the seasons by switching out one or two pillows. Above the couch, I did a picture ledge with a variety of prints and frames. This takes up a lot of space and can be customized easily! The variety also helps the eye move along the wall both width and height-wise. Most of the prints I found on Etsy which is my favorite place to shop for artwork (and then print at Costco, Shutterfly, or Nations Photo Lab). You can see some of my favorite Etsy art prints here, here, and here.
These designs were part of my 2D full room design package (although I kind of added in some 3D elements here!). Typically for my 3D designs, I will create a visual design board for each wall in the room so that I give a 360 degree look at the room. For each design package, I also include a floor plan layout like the one below to ensure that all furniture and decor fits in the space appropriately! This also helps you, as the client, see where I would put things! I often also include notes on where on the walls I would hang items, etc.
I offer 4 e-design and 3 in-person design packages ranging in price from $75 to $375! All packages include full accessibility and communication with me as well as unlimited revisions!
