I’m sharing another room in our house today – our formal dining room! Our dining room is right off our entrance and across from my office. We also have a breakfast nook off of our kitchen (which we are currently using as a living room/playroom). We’ve only used this room a handful of times since we’ve moved for dinners with our families, but I’m envisioning having family dinner here every night eventually (hopefully…..)!

A couple things we did or considered in this room while building – 1. Our plans had columns on either side of the opening to the foyer. We removed the columns to make the space feel more modern and widened the opening so that our first floor felt as open concept as possible. 2. We considered extending the wainscoting up the wall to be 2/3 of the wall (instead of 52″). Ultimately, we decided it wasn’t worth the money to add more so we kept it at 52″. 3. Since there is wainscoting in this room, we decided to go a little darker with the paint color. It’s in the same color family as the rest of our downstairs (minus our master bedroom), but two shades darker (all details included below!).
Most of the furniture and decorations in this room we already had in our first house. I wasn’t sure if it would work in the new house, but with a few new pieces mixed in, I think it turned out pretty well! Since we already had a lot of this, I’ve linked the new pieces below and let you know where everything else originally came from!
