Sometimes I get pictures of a room for an e-design and I am blown away by how amazing it already looks! This was the case with my latest e-design. The furniture my client already had was gorgeous! So, all I needed to do was add the finishing touches – what a fun job!
If you’re interested in a design service, I can absolutely work with pieces you already have! You can read the rest of my design service FAQs here.

Paint for French Country Style
First of all, you guys know I love to start my designs with a color palette. For this design, I had a bunch of paint colors that were already in the house or available on hand. The living room was already SW Gossamer Veil and it looked gorgeous!
With the entryway, I thought a fresh coat of paint could liven the space up. Also, entryways are usually open to multiple rooms, so they definitely need to coordinate well. My #1 tip to create cohesion in your home is to repeat paint colors [check out my top 3 paint color tips here]. I also thought adding a trim detail in the entry would give it a ton of interest. I wanted to keep it simple with the trim detail color being the same as the rest of the trim in the house and the paint color on the rest of the wall being SW Maison Blanche to coordinate with the other rooms off the entry.
I also wanted to add a pop of color on the inside of the front door and chose SW Sea Salt for this. I love the idea of a blue/green/gray front door – it just adds so much fun and interest! My client already had some Sea Salt paint and it coordinated well with the rest of the color scheme!
French Country Living Room
The biggest challenge in this living room was filling really large walls. Your wall decor should be proportional to your wall size and furniture size as well. My clients have a huge gray sectional so I suggested actually using two shelves next to one another to create a large shelf that would fill the space above the back of the sectional. A large sign above the shelf will help to add height!
Another point for filling large walls is adding height. They already have an amazing fiddle fig tree [I’ve linked a faux one below because if you’re anything like me, you couldn’t keep that thing alive for a week lol], which adds a ton of visual interest, and I wanted to balance that out in other corners of the room. So, I added a hanging plant and tall blanket ladder! They also already had an amazing tall arched floor mirror [I’ve linked some similar!]. In my opinion, when you’re shopping for faux plants, mirrors, blanket ladders, etc. the taller the better! I know it sometimes doesn’t seem worth the extra money to get something a foot taller, but it really does make a huge difference!

French Country Entryway
I mentioned above my paint and trim ideas for the entryway. I wanted to share an inspiration picture for the inside of the front door from John and Sherry at Young House Love – it adds so much visual interest to have a different color on the inside of the front door!
As far as decor goes in the entry, I love having a bench and hooks in the entry if there is room. A console table is also a super versatile furniture piece. In terms of decorating above a console, again the key is to add appropriate height and appropriately sized artwork or a mirror. I like to do a lamp and/or a sizeable vase with faux stems!
