I had fully intended on publishing my front porch refresh back in August, but never got around to it. Such is life! Now that it’s mid-September, I’m thinking of how I should be decorating this porch for fall. So, although this isn’t a fall porch post like everyone else is doing right now, I still wanted to share some of the updates I made over the summer. [Plus, it’s still 90 degrees here in Charleston which makes it a little bit hard to get in the fall mood, especially for an outdoor area!]
I didn’t make a ton of changes or a huge sweeping renovation, but I added some finishing touches that I think will make this space one of my favorites for years to come! [Mostly in the late fall, winter, and early spring, lol]

Our front porch is fairly big – especially long – at 31′ long by 8′ wide. I originally had a half circle Pottery Barn doormat here, which I did really like, but it looked too small for the space. So, I got a larger [and funnier] doormat from TJ Maxx and layered it on top of a gray and white patterned rug from Target. [You can shop my entire porch below and also here!]
Everyone has LOVED our faux topiaries from Wayfair since we moved in. They were one of the first things I put up! I may or may not already be excited to add lights to them for Christmas. I added two faux ferns in front of them to add some more depth and heigh variation and just fill in the space a little more.
I used a foam block to put the ferns in place and then I filled the pots with rocks to both weight them down and cover the bottom [I used the same rocks for the topiary pots.]
On the right side of our porch, I have two rocking chairs. In this space, all I did was add a faux floral arrangement on top of the stool in between the chairs. I also bought a cute frog from TJ Maxx and put it here, solely because it seemed like something my husband would like.’
As a side note – our dog, Kylo, LOVES to lay in the sun on the porch. We anticipated this might be the case and added a custom built in gate to our porch so that we didn’t have to worry about him running off. I talked more about that decision in the post!
I also FINALLY finished decorating our porch swing. The porch swing is a twin size mattress. I got a mattress cover from Etsy and a variety of pillows to go across the entire back. I used two of the same pillows that I have on the rocking chairs to tie it all together. I love these colors for spring and summer!
Lastly, a huge thank you to one of my friends, for taking these pictures of me and Allison! I’m usually the one taking the pictures, so while I have so many of Allison, there aren’t many with both of us and I know I will look back and be so happy I have these!
