I know, I know, I just did two guest bedroom design boards two weeks ago! (See them here!) But, I was talking to my brother, and he mentioned him and his girlfriend were thinking about redecorating one of their rooms and before I knew it, I was putting together another guest bedroom design!
For these designs, I did take a little while to think about paint colors, because they are going to be repainting (as opposed to my other design boards where the paint colors were already done).
The paint colors and some inspiration photos led me to two design ideas:
- (featured first below) A modern dramatic guest bedroom with a dark accent wall
- (second design board below) A very light, bright, and overall neutral guest room
They wanted a classic, timeless design and already have a wood headboard they’re planning on using so I wanted to incorporate that.

For this design, I would use Snowbound by Sherwin Williams on three of the walls and then Inkwell by Sherwin Williams as an accent wall behind the bed. I’m sharing how my design would look in their room below!
We actually have Inkwell paint on our powder room vanity cabinet. You can check it out here. It’s a really, really dark blue – almost black – but you can tell it has blue undertones. I also have this rug in my living room and love it! You can find all of my living room details here.
I love how neutral and calming this design is. For this one, I would use Snowbound on all the walls. I added a few more modern elements, like the faux concrete side tables, and some artwork with a pop of color. My brother and his girlfriend are big nature people, so I thought a fun piece of art displaying one of the national parks was perfect for them!
Below are some of the pictures I used as inspiration for these two looks!
