Hi friends! It’s been a while! But, I’m back today with another round of Friday Furnishings featuring two kids’ bedroom and bathroom ideas! I put together these designs for a client with a teenage daughter and son who share a bathroom.
I posted some other designs I did for this home last month, which you can find here. One of the first things I like to do with my designs, in particular when I am doing multiple rooms, is to establish a color palette! For this project, I had an “earthy coastal” color palette. Here are the colors I used throughout and then I added in some colors for specific rooms which I will discuss below!
- Pure White
- Aloof Gray
- Rare Gray
- Hale Navy

Teen Girl Bedroom
The request for this room was blush and gold! I added Melted Ice Cream and Vaguely Mauve to the color palette, but felt that a white wall color was the best base for the decor. I thought it would be fun to do a peel and stick wall mural on one wall to really incorporate the blush color. Pink paint was another option but as someone who had her room painted white, green, and blue stripes with a purple bathroom at one time, that might not have been the best long-term solution! Peel and stick wallpaper is such a great idea for kids rooms because it is SO easy to change up! Check out my peel and stick wallpaper tips here.
We used Ikea Hemnes furniture that the client already had and incorporated a fun swing for one corner.
Teen Boy Bedroom
I wanted to make this room a little bit moodier and darker – perfect for a teen boy! This room already had a chair rail, so I figured I could make the most of that with paint – I suggested Pure White above the chair rail and Cast Iron below. In this room, I needed to fit in storage and also a desk, so I chose to use the desk as a faux nightstand. I actually have this same layout in my guest room and it works perfectly!
Also, how fun is this leather lounge chair for a friend to sit in or for watching TV! I also always like to include a mirror in all my bedrooms!
Shared Bathroom
Most of the other cabinetry in the house is white and I thought a navy blue vanity would provide a nice contrast and accent, and be fun in the kids’ bathroom! This vanity is 84″ which is pretty long for a vanity! I also prefer the look of brushed nickel hardware with this paint color palette, so I suggested changing the pulls on the vanity – an easy swap if you are looking to change things up!
In terms of hardware, I do prefer towel rings or hooks to towel bars for hand towels (and actually bath towels too – hooks are so much easier to hang towels on!). Because this vanity is so long, I wanted to use one runner rug instead of two individual rugs in front of each sink. You can see how I used two rugs in my master bathroom here.
I chose wood-framed mirrors here to add warmth to the space! The wood tone adds a nice contrast and isn’t as stark looking as another metal. I always like to incorporate greenery on a vanity if I can!
These designs are part of my 2D Full Room Mood Board design service package! I often like to give multiple options when I put together a design, so you can see some of the other options I put together for these rooms here: girl’s room, boy’s room, bathroom
I offer 4 e-design and 3 in-person design packages ranging in price from $75 to $375! All packages include full accessibility and communication with me as well as unlimited revisions!
Happy Friday!
