Hi friends! I’m back with another bedroom design this week! [If you missed last week’s bedroom designs, check them out here!]. I love how this moody master bedroom design came together! And I’ve actually already posted some progress pictures on Instagram – follow me here to get all the behind the scenes looks!
Read on below to see how I achieve this modern and moody master bedroom look!
Moody Master Bedroom Color Palette
A color palette is always my basis for everything! For this room, I wanted to stick with a light neutral gray for the walls but then incorporate an accent wall behind the bed. I chose SW Repose Gray for 3 of the walls, because I actually used the color in another design for this same client [check that out here!] and I firmly believe in repeating paint colors! Then, I chose SW Retreat for the accent wall. I also added some coordinating colors to help with decor and furniture colors [Pure White and Black Magic].
In this design, I think the modern and moody master bedroom feel comes from the sage green accent wall, black dresser and chest, and leather/wood accents. You can see more how this all came together in each area of the room below!

2 Bedding + Decor Options
For the bed wall, I actually provided two design options which incorporated different artwork above the bed as well as different bedding. By changing just a few elements, you can really play up the modern feel or add a little bit of farmhouse style.
Which of the two looks do you like better?! We actually ended up going with a little bit of a combination of the two for the final design!
Modern Dresser + Sitting Area
If you have room in your master bedroom, I love the idea of adding a small sitting area! I definitely believe the master bedroom should be your retreat and a little sitting corner helps give that off that feeling!
These black dressers from West Elm are just gorgeous and I love the brass accents. If you’re looking for a more budget-friendly alternative, this is a similar option that I also love [unfortunately out of stock until December, but might be worth the wait!].
I offer 4 e-design and 3 in-person design packages ranging in price from $50 to $275! All packages include full accessibility and communication with me as well as unlimited revisions!
I can’t wait to see the finished product for this one! It’s going to be a great transformation!
