I’m so excited to announce that I’m participating as a guest in the Spring 2020 One Room Challenge!
What is the One Room Challenge?
The One Room Challenge is an event every fall and spring where featured designers and guest participants transform a space over 6 weeks [though this spring’s challenge will be 8 weeks]. Every Wednesday and Thursday, the designers and guest participants share their progress, sources, and advice!
What room am I doing?
For the One Room Challenge, I am tackling our home office. If you’ve been following me for a while, you may have seen that I recently transformed my home office into a playroom for the March Room Refresh Challenge hosted by Chrissy Marie Blog, Paisley + Sparrow, and Arin Solange at Home. You can see my playroom reveal here!
Now that my office has been taken over, I have moved into my husband’s office [not sure he’s too thrilled about it though!]. For the One Room Challenge, I am transforming this space into a modern dual home office that works for both of us with a small home gym as well!
You can see it’s current state below.
Current Home Office Pictures
I’m actually embarrassed to post these pictures. This room has become sort-of a catch all room for us. We have a small storage area off the room and it takes an embarrassingly long time for items to actually make it out of the office and into storage. There is also practically no storage in this room itself, whereas I had a TON of storage in my old office. Storage is definitely something I need to address during this challenge!
Home Office Inspiration
This modern feel is a little out of my comfort zone but this room is kind-of separated in our house so I thought it would be fun to try something new!
I love this whole set up from Our Faux Farmhouse [if you’re not following them, go do that right now!!]. Their desk is the main inspiration for ours!
This next picture was the first one I found that I fell in love with for our space. I’m not going to do an accent shiplap wall but it’s gorgeous. The rug and light fixture really give it a modern feel.
Black and white are going to be my main colors, so this home office from Love Create Celebrate is perfect inspiration! Check out her page for a full reveal video of this space.

What I’m Keeping
- Paint Color | SW Repose Gray 7015
- Carpet | However, I am planning to add an area rug on top.
- Light Fixtures | We have this fan with light kit and this accent light [in what will be in the “gym” area].
- Plantation Shutters
- Office Chair
- Attached Bathroom Design + Decor | We have a full bathroom attached to the office. It’s already fairly modern with black tiles, white subway tile, white vanity with black hardware, light fixture, and gray and black decor. The design and decor in the bathroom help inspired by mood board for the office. I will only be making small changes to the bathroom!
What I’ve Bought So Far
- Peel and Stick Wallpaper | Check out some other peel and stick wallpaper I’m loving here.
- Cube Storage Cabinet | For storing gym equipment [dumbbells, yoga blocks, resistance bands, etc.]
- Cube Storage Bins
- Gym Mat
- File Cabinets | I had my heart set on these Ikea cabinets, but there aren’t any Ikeas in the entire state of South Carolina and it was $200 to ship them, so I had to change gears and purchased these.
- Office Sign | I put this outside the door to the office.
