Happy Sunday! Last week, I shared some coastal inspired living room designs and this week I’m sharing some coastal inspired TV room designs! These are a little bit more casual than the ones I shared last week and have a little bit more of a “den” feeling. This is a small room, right off a kitchen, used for family gathering and watching a show together.
I love the idea of this kind of room and think design-wise, there are some really cool things that could be done with a space like this! Keep on scrolling to see my ideas!

Neutral Walls and Blue Decor
Is there anything more coastal than blues and shiplap?! I do prefer to do shiplap in a more modern way and run it vertically, so I added a vertical shiplap accent wall behind the TV. This adds a ton of interest to the walls and the whole room really! I kept everything pretty casual with a couch with double chaises and ottoman coffee table.
The room also had a built in bar (as it used to be a formal dining room) and I wanted to keep the wood tone to coordinate with the kitchen and limit the overall work needed to be done, but give it some updates. I added a patterned backsplash from Bedrosians that I LOVE, gold handles from Top Knobs, and some fun decor/practical items.
Moody Navy Den
Because of the size of the room and it’s purpose, I love the idea of doing something a little moodier in here! It really defines the space. I painted the walls BM Hale Navy as well as the built in bar. To offset the dark wall color, I kept all the furniture light with a light gray textured couch with double chaises, light mango wood coffee table, white and cane sideboard, and light basketweave rug.
Wallpaper and Floral Accents
This is similar to the moody space above, but realizing that not everyone loves a dark space, I wanted to give another option with a wall treatment that was a little lighter and brighter! I picked a grasscloth wallpaper to define the room and give it it’s own identity but really flow seamlessly with the other adjacent rooms. I love to use wallpaper in smaller spaces to add interest. Grasscloth is a great option because it’s not too patterned or “in your face” but it still provides that interest that you don’t get from paint. I also love the mix of patterns in this design with the floral curtains and plaid rug!
Coordinating Kitchen/Breakfast Nook
Option 1 – Rectangle Table
This design board is a great example of how you can update a space and keep some of your existing furniture! We kept the existing dark wood dining table but really freshened and lightened it up with new side and end chairs! This makes the space feel light and bright and coordinate with the tv room, but still incorporates some of the larger pieces of furniture already in place.
Option 2 – Round Table
This option has a gorgeous 54″ round oak table from McGee & Co. I love the mix of modern, traditional, and coastal in this design board. You’ll notice the curtains are the same as the third design boards above. The floral pattern combined with the side chairs adds a traditional element. The woven pendant is the perfect coastal accent. I added some modern artwork on the wall with coordinating colors to balance out the traditional items. Lastly, some people either love rugs in eating areas or hate them! This round Ruggable is a great option because it’s easily cleanable and washable! I’m all about creating a beautiful space that is practical for families!
