Hi friends! Happy Sunday! Today, I wanted to share a small lakehouse design I put together a few months ago. Finally getting around to blogging about it as per usual! This design was for a very small lake home – just over 600 square feet (not including outdoor spaces) – so we packed a lot into a little space! We wanted this space to have a fresh, light and bright coastal feel, so I used the same color palette throughout. Keep on reading for all the details and product links!

Lakehouse Exterior
The current exterior of the home is a red log cabin look with a green metal roof. My clients eventually want to update the red to something more neutral and calming so I provided a few different options. Changing the roof color would be a major undertaking obviously so I picked a few options that work well with green! I can up with these paint options:
Body of the House (all Sherwin Williams):
- Ibis White
- Mindful Gray
- Accessible Beige
Front Door:
- Hale Navy (Benjamin Moore)
- Foggy Day (Sherwin Williams)
- Whirlpool (Sherwin Williams)
Mini Kitchen
In the main living area of the house is an open concept small kitchen, dining area, and living room with an open loft area above. The entire house was wood paneling which made it feel dark and a little closed in. We wanted to lighten the whole feel of the home but maintain the rustic lake house feel, so we chose to paint the ceiling SW Pure White and leave the wood paneling on the walls. Here is an inspiration picture for the look we wanted to achieve from High Street Homes:
For the kitchen, I wanted to incorporate the color palette of the entire home by painting the cabinets SW Pure White and BM Hale Navy. The other accent colors I included in the space were BM Santorini Blue and SW Sea Salt. This design board was a budget friendly way to update the kitchen!
Living Room
In the living room, I wanted to provide extra storage as well as sleeping options, so I included a couch with a storage chaise and a smaller sleeper sofa. I added some fun lake artwork from Etsy as well.
Bedroom
The bedroom is pretty tight and basically only had room for the bed! I incorporated some very narrow nightstands with sconces above that tie in the light blue accent color. The other important item we added in this space was a canvas print above the bed in order to hide an electrical panel that was smack in the middle of the paneling! I love these 47″ x 24″ wall canvases from Target for above a bed – they have a couple different ones – I even have a beach one above my own bed which you can see here.
Bathroom
The bathroom actually didn’t have wood paneling in it so I added a white vertical shiplap to make the space look more sophisticated. We also painted the vanity BM Hale Navy to tie into the kitchen and added storage where we could with hanging shelves above the toilet.
Screened In Porch
The screened in porch is bound to get a ton of use with it’s great views of the lake! I wanted to add a comfortable sitting area as well as an eating area. I love adding cafe lights to screened in porches for a little bit of nighttime ambience and twinkle! You can see how cafe lights look on my porch here!
