Hi friends! It feels like it’s been a while since I posted! I’m going to attribute that to the “dog days” of summer starting….or so it feels like. Today, I’m sharing two beautiful formal dining room designs. These design boards are part of my 3D full room design package.
I recently posted a blog post with some living room mood boards for the same home! AND as an added bonus, keep scrolling all the way to the end of this post for some additional mood boards that coordinate with these dining room designs! I love to work on multiple spaces to create cohesion and flow throughout a home (PS. I also offer discounts on design services for multiple rooms!).

Dining Room Floorplan
I include a floorplan with almost all of my design packages! This dining room features seating for 8, a 9×12 rug, sideboard, and tall accent cabinet. A tall tree and curtains give the room height and warmth.
Option 1: White Walls
I suggested BM Simply White for the walls in this design option. This color is a great, versatile warm white. I felt that this would really brighten and freshen up the space. My client already had this wood and metal table from Crate & Barrel, so that was my starting point.
Because the table already has a bit of a modern edge to it, I chose to use more traditional windsor side chairs, upholstered end chairs, and iron chandelier.
I wanted to pull in some deeper colors so I chose a dark gray color for the curtains which pulled in some of the grays in the rug.
The artwork I selected as well as some of the decor has a vintage feel to tie everything together!
Option 2: Green Walls and Cane Accents
This dining room definitely takes on a different feel than the first option, starting with the green walls! This green tone is definitely trending right now – in fact, a very similar color was Sherwin William’s color of the year for 2022. The color I have here is Benjamin Moore Lichen.
To offset the green walls, I chose a vintage inspired area rug and striped curtains. These patterns, combined with the chandelier, give the room a more traditional feel. I added cane and woven accents through the side chairs and accent cabinet. I also added a bit of drama and modern touch with a black sideboard with arched doors.
You’ll notice I have the same end chairs, artwork, and decor in this design as option 1!
Additional Design Boards: Office, Entry, Powder Room
How fun are these spaces!? I played around more here with texture and color by adding wallpaper to each space and trim details on the walls (wainscoting in the entryway and vertical shiplap in the powder room). These mood boards are great examples of how to mix modern elements with light fixtures and wall decor with traditional furniture, colors, and lines.
I offer 4 e-design and 3 in-person design packages ranging in price from $75 to $375! All packages include full accessibility and communication with me as well as unlimited revisions!
These two dining room looks definitely have a different vibe but they are both beautiful! Which would you pick?? Lastly, keep your eye out on Instagram for more design boards for the same home!
